Northern temperate — short summers, very low winter light
11 years growing Lithops under supplemental lighting. Strong interest in winter-rainfall species that align poorly with northern photoperiods.
About
Latitude 55° means I get about six usable hours of daylight at the December solstice, and most of that is grey. Without grow lights, Lithops culture in Malmö is a slow decline. With them, it's perfectly viable — I run a small light shelf at 35,000 lux for eight hours a day from October through March.
I review profiles where light is the limiting factor. If you're growing indoors in Helsinki, Edinburgh, or Vancouver, your problem is usually not water — it's photons.
