Community Guidelines

The short version: be a good grower-neighbor, share what actually worked, and don't be a jerk.

All comments are moderated

Every comment on Appsbarn is reviewed by a member of the editorial team before it appears publicly. We aim to approve or decline within 48 hours. Off-policy comments are removed, and accounts that repeatedly post off-policy content are blocked.

What we welcome

  • Photos and observations from your own plants.
  • Questions about identification or care.
  • Corrections to a profile or guide — please be specific.
  • Climate-specific notes (e.g. "in coastal Portugal I water on this schedule").

What we remove

  • Harassment, hate speech, slurs, threats, or personal attacks.
  • Spam, including unrelated promotional links, affiliate links, MLM pitches, and crypto/financial promotions.
  • Sales offers, sale listings, or "DM me to buy" comments — this is not a marketplace.
  • Doxxing, sharing private information about others.
  • Content promoting wild-collected (poached) plants or illegal CITES trade.
  • AI-generated content presented as personal experience.
  • Sexual, violent, or otherwise NSFW material.

Contributor submissions

The same rules apply to anything submitted through Become a contributor. We additionally require:

  • Photos you took yourself or have explicit permission to use.
  • Real first name and approximate location (city/region) — so other growers can weigh climate context.
  • A short note on your growing setup, so we can correctly interpret what worked.

Reporting an issue

If you see a comment that violates these guidelines, email contact@appsbarn.com with a link to the page and a short note. We'll review and act within 48 hours.

Edits and removals

We may edit comments for spelling, formatting, or to remove personal contact details. We may remove comments at any time. If your comment is removed and you'd like to know why, write to us.
